A wise real estate broker and builder, my father, was once asked, “How many homes have you sold in our community?”. He briefly looked down to contemplate. Then he looked back up and said, “I don’t know how many I have sold, but I know I’ve helped a lot of people”.
Bingo! Witnessing this reminded me what he had taught me.
Some companies are caught up in sales. Sales numbers. Sales data. Sales year to date. Sales year over year. They have a myopic focus on real estate deals to achieve sales goals.
People don’t want to be sold. When they are sold, they will have second thoughts. Buyers’ remorse sets in. It may be short lived or permanent. When people are sold a wrench is thrown into the process. Tensions and stress follow.
When helped, they are appreciative of having their needs taken care of. Their objectives realized. Their forward path is enhanced.
